I suspect the wiring has corroded somewhere (Michigan salt). When shutting it off, it goes to 1/2 full even though it is full. If the wire breaks completely, current flow goes to zero, and the gauge goes past Full and stays there. I want to get this fixed before winter. Fortunately, there is a way to reset the fuel gauge and get it working again.
